RFID UHF Laundry tag

The implementation of RFID technology has enabled an Italian company operating in the industrial laundry sector to offer its customers a more efficient service, overcoming all the challenges that arise during the execution process.

How has RFID technology been implemented?

To increase the efficiency of the process, reducing time, costs, and losses, the RFID Laundry Tag was chosen for its ability to withstand chemical agents used during washing cycles and mechanical stresses.

These 70×15 mm fabric transponders, thermo-sealed onto linen from hospital or hospitality facilities, are equipped with a unique identification code and store information about each individual item to be washed in their EPC memory.

The Tag is applied to each item that leaves the facility in designated carts and is recognized by an automatic UHF RFID system. Once received by the laundry, the washing cycle begins, and upon the customer’s request, each step of the process (washing, drying, and ironing) can be tracked. After the cycle is completed, the Laundry Tag also enables the automatic sorting of linen, ensuring that it is returned to the facilities without errors or losses that would occur with manual sorting.

The implementation of RFID technology enables laundry managers to monitor the status of each item to be washed, manage the various steps of the process more efficiently, and ensure that items are returned to clients within the agreed-upon timelines. This also eliminates the need to manually track, sort, and count laundry items, allowing staff to focus on other tasks.
