In order to be aware of every movement of its car fleet, have information on who and when took possession of a particular vehicle, keep track of vehicle maintenance, and reduce operating costs, a Dutch company has introduced the use of RFID technology.

 How does RFID come into the picture?

Each RFID keyfob is uniquely associated with a particular vehicle, and key vehicle information is entered into its internal memory.

The use of the Keyfob HF ISO15693 I-Code SLIX 42x3x33mm was the solution implemented to meet these challenges. Customized according to the customer’s needs and preferences, this ABS Keyfob Tag – because of its small size and practicality – is ideal for attaching to car keys, so as to keep track of their movements at all times.

In order to take possession of the vehicle keys, it is in fact necessary to open the RFID-enabled bulletin board using one’s personal company badge. Once the keys are picked up, the system signals their absence, noting the time and name of the employee who performed the action. When the keys – with the attached RFID Keyfob – are placed back in their proper place inside the bulletin board, the system will record the return in the same manner as previously exposed. 

The use of RFID technology has thus improved the tracking of company vehicle movements and related maintenance activities, facilitating their planning and reducing both costs and management errors.
